Once again, Basinski's musics makes me more existential than any other ambient artist. There is something so beautiful and haunting about his loops.
Favorite track: For David Robert Jones.
In A Shadow In Time, Basinski plunges deeper than ever for the plaintive, solitary eulogy to David Bowie, aptly titled “For David Robert Jones.” Conversely, the title track, “A Shadow In Time,” is a subtle, celestial escalation of melody and drone. The result is one of the most truly transcendent pieces of music he has ever committed to – or wrung from – tape.

Promises is a wild adventure of developing sounds of minimalist ambient and third stream jazz fusing together. That may sound pretentious, but trust me this is worth your time! Everyone plays so beautifully here and I’m very happy that this was Sanders’ last piece of work because he put so much into this swansong of a composition! Rest in power Pharoah Sanders AliceDreadfuls
